Flanged immersion heaters are constructed by brazing or welding elements into an ANSI or plate flange. These are
intended for direct immersion into fluids and gases. The heater is to be installed via a flanged port in the tank or
vessel.Flange heaters are heating units mounted by means of a bolted flange to a process installation. A heater like that is
called a flanged immersion heater or a short flange heater. The elements of the heater are in direct contact with the
medium, which can be water, liquid, oil, gasses (e.g. nitrogen, air, damp). The heating elements can be made of copper, steel, stainless steel or Incoloy sheath. Standard flanges are composed of
carbon steel rated for 150 or 300 Lbs. Other flange materials and shapes are available.
